General overview: There are two sections in the IELTS academic’s writing task, Writing Task 1 and Task 2. These tasks are to be finished in the time duration of 1 hour. For Task 1, the time duration is about 20 minutes and for task 2, 40 minutes 2 respectively.

Types of questions:

IELTS Task 1 – Data interpretation questions, for example, Pie-chart and Bar-chart. questions liked to process flow diagrams can be asked too.
In case of IELTS general Task 1 might have an email or a letter to write.

IELTS Task 2 – Email or a letter

In the case of IELTS general and academic Task 2 is common which are essay type questions, in which students will have to agree or disagree with the given statement. They also are supposed to provide their point of view.

We have discussed Task1 for IELTS academic in details in the below-given statements.

Task 1 Academic:
Students are supposed to write at least 150 words. Four key parts of the question are to be identified which are as follow:

Key – Tell exactly what a line, bar or cross represent

Unit – Unit of measurement e.g. Percentage(%), Numbers, Dates, Days, etc.

Category – Represents group e.g. People, Cities, Region, or Institutions

Time – Timeline

The trick is to use the key, unit, and category to describe the graphic. Title of the graph will help you to understand the overall purpose of the graph.

Overall structure: There are 3 parts.

Part Number of words
Opening statement 15-20
Description of detail 25-30
Description of trends and conclusion 100-120

In the opening statement, paraphrase the first sentence of Task 1. Do not copy and paste exactly. Mention about the timeline as mentioned in the graph (Not to be used in all the questions). Add location if mentioned in the question

In the description of details, students should go in details and describe the topic along with given data properly.

In the final part, students should do the analysis of data by discussing about the trends, discussion about minimum value, the maximum value cross comparison between the trends of different categories etc.
